There are now 40 venues that make up this nationwide, upscale seafood chain, which banks on prime locations throughout the country. The ubiquitous, family-styled menu features popular sea creatures (Mahimahi, tuna, salmon, swordfish, shrimp, etc.) spruced up with tangy sauces and side dishes -- or simply deep-fried. It may not be the best seafood in town, but as the Starbucks of seafood and great views, the crowds still pile in for consistent, Chart House ambience and a slab of their famous hot chocolate lava cake dessert. SoCal has several locations -- boatside in the picturesque Marina harbor, overlooking the Santa Monica skyline from a Malibu perch, and facing the Newport shoreline a little further south. Lunch/dinner for two: $40-$60.
