About
One of the few family-owned holdouts on South Lake Avenue, Burger Continental has been serving its signature burgers as well as Greek and Mediterranean fare for close to 40 years. Perhaps it’s the combination of family-friendly buffets, weekend belly dancers, and a dizzyingly large menu that keeps an eclectic crowd returning year after year. House specialties include the seafood kebab “spectacular” and the chicken breast Corinthian topped with spinach and feta. Prices seem to belie the quality of the food: the all-you-can-eat $4.99 breakfast buffet and $8.99 lunch buffet are incredible spreads of hot dishes and pastries. At happy hour, which lasts 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday through Friday, $1.99 will get you a beer, well drink, or ouzo of your choice. It’s a warm, casual atmosphere where San Marino grandmothers and Cal Tech students gather on the covered back patio in equal numbers.
