Bossa Nova

Bossa Nova specializes in comfort food with a Brazilian twist. The Sunset location’s outdoor area is smaller than the West Hollywood branch (and lacks the curbside view), but the menu is larger. Wood fire pizza and pasta are easy choices, but the sandwiches, most of which contain a combination of cheese, meat, vegetables and even carmelized banana or fried egg, are stand-outs. Grilled chicken, skirt steak or seafood is also popular and comes with heaping sides of rice, beans and plantains. Open until 4 a.m., Bossa Nova is a hearty alternative to fast food joints and all-night diners. Whether it’s healthier is debatable, but bananas are fruit even when they’re caramelized…right?
