Decorated like your grandma’s living room, complete with pastel upholstery in non-threatening patterns, Barragan’s Mexican restaurant has emerged as an unlikely front-runner in the bloody battle for the hearts and stomachs of area hipsters. Its weekly $2.25 margarita Wednesdays are like the Studio 54 of cheese-sauce covered nachos and salty, tequila-soaked sweet ‘n’ sour concoctions. So prominent are the sparkly tiger-print off-the-shoulder sweatshirts, knee socks and skinny jeans that the restaurant opens up a second level and an outdoor smoking patio just for the hallowed occasion.
