Times Description

This trendy, high-concept coffee shop -- decorated to look a bit like a French bordello -- specializes in gourmet coffee and delectable bites such as potato-leek soup with Manila clams and Kentucky goat cheese panini with black-olive tapenade. And as of February 2009, LAMILL has added red velvet cupcakes made with Valrhona dark chocolate to their menu. Coffee offerings are particularly creative. Try the Coffee and a Cigarette: a rich espresso topped with tobacco-infused whipped cream. Located across the street from cozy Michelangelo Pizzeria and down the street from club Spaceland, LA Mill drew stand-in-line crowds from the moment it opened. Some say its high-priced, dainty plates conceived by Providence chef Michael Cimarusti, signal the end of Silver Lake as a viable option for artists in need of cheap rent, but others are just pleased to have an additional option when contemplating food and caffeine. For the latter Intelligentsia just wasn't enough.

TIPS: Come alone and grab a counter seat to watch the highly trained baristas in action.

So I walk into this place at 7:30pm on Sunday night and ask how late they're open. The barista tells me that usually they're open until 10pm, but that night...
