Know something we don't?
Formerly Lift, Hudson Bistro brings a brand new concept to the corner of Hollywood and Hudson. Modeled after an East Coast sports bar, the Hudson boasts exposed brick walls, checkered tablecloths, multiple plasma television sets and a sports-fan friendly menu.
So what kind of fare can you expect at Hudson? Naturally, the small restaurant (with several tables on Hollywood Blvd. for outdoor dining) serves up fantastic appetizers perfect for watching the big game (spicy chicken wings etc.). But the tourist-friendly venue also offers up a few surprises, such as Elvis' favorite sandwhich, peanut butter and fried bananna on wheat bread.
In general, Hudson feels airy and welcoming to passerbys on Hollywood Blvd., which according to new owner Robert Palmer, is exacty the idea. "We're going to be getting all the major sports packages," he said in October during their soft-launch phase. Palmer wants to lure in European tourists during the day with soccer games featuring popular clubs such as Real Madrid. Naturally, you can always catch an NFL game here in the meantime.
As a rule, the food here is much more mainstream that the previous incarnation (the short-lived Lift). But perhaps that's exactly what the doctor ordered for an increasingly mainstream stretch of Hollywood Blvd. Those seeking exclusivity can always head downstairs (if you can get in) on a weekend night to Palmer's Hush Lounge (formerly 86).
