A cafe within a grocery store, this is ground zero for Ojai's alternative, environmental crew. An amazing salad bar, fabulous homemade vegan chai and a hippie vibe that is stronger than patchouli oil, the Farmer and the Cook is the perfect place to get that progressive social activist vibe going over a delicious carrot muffin. Fresh, homemade soup specials are reliably good and hearty. Go for the vegan fare and extraordinarily fresh, local produce and stay for the retired Deadhead and Burning Man dropout people-watching.
