Comme Ca, the sparkling new brasserie from David Myers of Sona, is a runaway success, a crossover that's both a seriously good restaurant and a...

Times Description

A traditional French brasserie and one of WeHo's hottest reservations, Comme Ca is the brainchild of Sona's David Myers. Decorated in smart black, white and gray tones, the clientele is chic and well-heeled and doesn’t seem to mind the swirling activity and pulsating music as it’s quite the scene. The menu features classic items such as onion soup, bouillabaisse, cote de boeuf and moules frites, and some say the duck confit is the best in town. There’s even a cheese counter, complete with a fromager who will assemble a lovely assorted plate for you based on your tastes. Yes, there are some off notes. The $5 per person all-you-can-drink water fee is one of them. And someone in the kitchen seems to be having a love affair with salt. But all in all, it’s a good time. Sam Ross from Milk & Honey is their cocktail consultant and the bartenders know their way around a cocktail. It’s sort of fun to say “dealer’s choice” and let them design your drink, but they also can make just about anything if you want to come prepared. Except for the crème brulee which is made in house, the desserts are from Boule, and they’re fine but nowhere near fabulous. If you must skimp on something, let that be it.

TIPS: Despite its popularity, the restaurant says it’s possible to walk in and get a table. During peak hours, tables are reserved for an hour and a half and they will enforce the rule if it’s busy. The weeknights are noticeably more subdued; expect an ebullient scene on the weekend. There is only a brunch menu on Saturdays and Sunday, no lunch.

Finally had the chance to check it out - what a disappointing experience! Probably the worst service ever here in LA. Server, Danielle, made numerous mistakes. Orders messed up, when the food came - 25% of our large party didn't get food. Order was wrong and the Monday special they...

Comme Ca is shiny and pretty. Kind of like a movie set with lots of props. The cheese counter is novel and authentic. But, the authenticity means lots of stinky cheese. . .stinking up the entire and very open bar area. The decor is too cutesy with the sunflowers in...
