At the corner of Sunset and Alvarado, the neon, lardy-bean lure of Burrito King causes gang bangers, Greenpeace workers and area families to gather beneath the glow of the latest American Apparel billboard for a cheap Mexican meal on the go. Little swivel stools at the outdoor counters as well as an adjacent head shop and a liquor store that carries rare Byzantine-style Jesus candles make supping on soft tacos, nacho platters and cheesy enchiladas that much more alluring. Open until 3 a.m.
