At this unpretentious haven for artisanal products of all types, the charcuterie is well-cured and the cheese is well-curated. Choose from over 250 varieties of le fromage from destinations as far flung as Tasmania (and as near as NorCal). The exuberant staff possesses a passion for cheese and will stuff you with free tastings until you find what you like or have reached your capacity, whichever comes first. For a more substantial sample, stop in at lunchtime for one of their award-winning cold sandwiches or hot panini, including the popular grilled Italian vegetable with Danish pearl cheese or roast beef with housemade blue cheese spread. Every fourth Saturday, the shop hosts cheese tastings with unique themes; recent pairings have included cheese and sake and, with the help of Scoops’ proprietor Tai Kim, cheese and ice cream. Cheddar apple ice cream, anyone?
