Colorful falafel fixings—hummus, Israeli salad, tahini, and tabuli—span the counter at this strip mall shrine to the favored fast food of the Middle East. In the falafel-saturated Valley, Amir’s stands out above the rest. Skewers of hot schwarma rotate behind the counter, lending a heady aroma to the small space with a dozen or so tables. Combo plates come generously heaped with rice, pita, pickles, cold slaw and all the fixings. Burgers, kabobs, and salads are also available. Finish it all off with baklava and a Turkish coffee. Just be sure to allow extra time to stand in line if you hit Amir’s at the lunch rush.
