Times Description

The first restaurant opened by "organic celebrity chef" Akasha Richmond. Richmond wrote the cookbook "Hollywood Dish," is the official spokesperson for Silk-brand soymilk and knows more than a thing or two about cooking fresh. Akasha's menu is new American, with a focus on comfort foods prepared with sustainable ingredients and free-range meats. The bar features fresh juice cocktails made with organic premium spirits as well as beer and wine. A bakery—that is open all day—features fair-trade coffee and sugar. When she built the restaurant--which is located in Culver City's first hospital, the historic Hull building--Akasha was obsessively eco-conscious. Limestone counter tops, reclaimed barn wood, organ hemp banquette covers, recycled ceiling insulation, LED lights and biodegradable cleaning materials all make an appearance.

Dined at Akasha's a few times. Food is good. Don't eat at the bar! Service is bad. The lady ignores you and talks to one customer. Need a few more choices on the menu but overall liked the food. Bakery lady has a great personality and let us sample.

I was pleasantly surprised by the tasty "socialite" drink with carrot juice/ginger infusion/vodka(the latter of which seems to negate the health factor, but what the heck,...
