Chinese New Year Spectacular

"Refreshingly Different - Worth Seeing Again"

Philisophe's Rating

I enjoyed the show. I particularly liked the last tenor (huge range, powerful voice) but my friends all liked different acts. None of them complained about the philosophy expressed in some of the lyrics; in fact, since the singing was in Chinese, I could have missed the meaning if I had not concentrated on the lyrics displayed on the backdrop.

The backdrop also deserves mention: the backdop (CGI) was part of the show, with action on the backdrop integrating into the dancing. First time I ever saw that!

Judging from the standing ovations, just about everyone liked it. I sure did.

I am not religious, but I consider myself to be spiritual, and I am not offended by hearing good messages expressed in different ways. I really don't see anything in the show that would cause negative reactions. I am kind of mystified why anyone would be offended.

To me this show emphasized beauty and purity of motion and spirit, and compared to the sex and violence that saturates the TV shows and movies I usually watch, this show was quite a pleasant refreshment.

It is good to know that even in this jaded society, there are people who still appreciate a culture where grace and beauty and honesty are important.

I'd say, See the show, and see what you think. I didn't see any disappointed customers, and for myself, I'd go see it again if it came back around.
