Liza and husband Tim Goodell are behind restaurants Red Pearl Kitchen (Hollywood, Huntington Beach, San Diego), Dakota, and 25 Degrees in the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. They live in Newport Beach. When she's not eating at her own restaurants, these are her favorites.
"A perfect Friday would be going out to dinner here with my husband and the kids.It's a Japanese steakhouse where you cook your own meat over a gas grill. The steak is absolutely top-notch and the clientele almost totally Asian. The kids love it; they know how to cook and totally take over. We order meat, peppers and onions. They have two kinds of kimchi and this great rice dish that's not very attractive but it's delicious."
"Really great, healthy breakfasts and a who's who of Newport Beach eats there. You spend twenty minutes eating and an hour talking. Most of the seating is outside and everybody brings their dog. Very laid back and casual."
"I like the tasting menu, that's the way to go. And we let them choose the wine too."
