Jamie King's favorite restaurants
You may not know Jaime King's name, but you know her face. The model-turned-actress has appeared in nearly every fashion magazine known to man (including Vogue and the cover of the New York Times' magazine in 1996, and even the cover of Maxim just a few months ago) since she made her debut in the fashion world in her early teens as James King.
But after conquering the fashion world (and Kid Rock, whom she famously dated around the turn of the millenium), King turned her attention to acting. The Omaha-born beauty has appeared in such films as "Sin City," "Pearl Harbor" and "White Chicks." Now, the actress' career looks ready to take off; with several high-profile roles set to hit screens later this year and into 2009 (including Frank Miller's anticipated "The Spirit," "My Bloody Valentine" and, eventually, "Sin City 2."
Here are King's picks around the Westside of Los Angeles, where she lives with her husband.
I really like Chinese food, but I try to avoid “scene” restaurants like Mr. Chow. When I go out, I like to be able to relax. The service at Mandarette is great…I have a lot of allergies and the staff is accommodating. Lots of steamed or fried options here.
I love the Urth Caffé on Melrose. My friends actually own this particular location. They did all the food for our wedding. The best coffee ever--no one has coffee like that in L.A.!
Cube is awesome. Good Italian food. If you are into wine and cheese, it’s a great place to go. Kind of low key, but the food is very fresh. I like food that’s healthy, and you'll find what you want here.
My favorite place for breakfast is the diner inside the Beverly Hills Hotel (near the Polo Lounge). I first heard about it from Selma Blair. Their waffles are really yummy and it’s fun because it’s so old school and so beautiful.
For fun I like to go to Roscoe’s. My husband likes it, too. It’s definitely not healthy, but it’s fun for a change.
