Anisette Brasserie

"Authentic French, Angelenos Welcomed"

jetman's Rating

Chef Alain Giraud and his worthy staff have in the space of three weeks brought an authentic French Brasserie, (read standard menu, great cooking, relaxed atmosphere) to Santa Monica/Los Angeles. Try the oysters, sample a great cocktail, select good values from the wine menu, emphasizing Californian, French, Oregonian. I relished the steak frites, but plenty is offered more for the more enterprising. Oh, finally, just as at Giraffe, a little up the road, Anisette offers a professional waiter, neither daunting nor annoyingly informal, properly guiding you through your meal, a most welcome relief from either the stuffy approach, the laid-back college kid approach, or most annoyingly, the fulsome corporate approach.
