"Waitress FORGED her own tip onto my credit card receipt after I left"

This has never happened to me before, and it was important enough for me to post on this site. We went to this place last weekend - and the overall service we got was dismal. I usually am not picky about service, but this was over the top.

Our waitress seemed a bit out of it, and forgot to come back to our table to take our order once she took our drink order. I tracked her down after 10 to 12 minutes, and she took our order. Then, it took THREE tries before they got my wife's salad right. Even then, it had no dressing on it, so my wife passed on her salad and shared my plate (which was unimpressive). The bill came out to about 40 bucks, and even though we didn't think it was fair to be charged that much for an awful experience, we wanted to just pay and get out of there.

We decided (something we never do) that we'd leave a very small tip to reflect the poor service. I paid by credit card, and left 2 dollars with the bill in cash as tip. We left, and that was that.

Yesterday, I checked my account online, and to my amazement, 6 dollars had been added to my final bill on my credit card as tip. IT IS A CRIMINAL OFFENSE to fraudulently alter a customer's bill - all for 6 dollars. I am outraged that the wait staff would tamper with my receipt this way. If they wanted the tip, perhaps they should have actually provided my wife and I with some service. Instead, they gave us HORRIBLE service, and decided to steal from us by forging our receipt.

I have already requested a copy of the receipt from my cc company, and I am going to be contacting this establishment - not only to get my 6 dollars back, but to make sure whoever did this is held to account.

Please beware if you do decide to eat at this place - don't expect much by way of service or the taste of their food.

And pay in cash, because your wait staff may decide to steal from you if you pay with a credit card.
