Damien Fahey's L.A. favorites
Damien Fahey is best known as the main host of MTV’s flagship show TRL (Total Request Live) where he has interviewed just about every major celebrity and music artist over the past six years. His career highlights include regularly filling in for Regis Philbin on Live! with Regis and Kelly and being considered by David Letterman's production company as one of the four finalists to take over The Late Late Show on CBS when former host Craig Kilborn left the gig.
Damien’s most recent creative endeavor is a series of web shorts called “Damien’s Other Show,” which can be seen at www.shorts.mtv.com. Here are a few of his favorite spots to eat near MTV's Santa Monica office and beyond.
I've been known to eat a burger for lunch and a burger for dinner, three days in a row. This is the place to grab a really solid burger and a great pint of beer.
The garden at the Chateau Marmont has an amazing chocolate cake for dessert and the lunches here are top notch. It's a bit pricey, but worth it if you want a one-of-a-kind dining experience.
This place is one of my favorite restaurants hands down. I usually sit at the bar and no further than seven feet from the giant Pineapple infused tequila dispenser. The tacos are authentic and they have every kind of Tequila under the sun. Bring a designated driver and an extra pair of underwear.
I salute one of my favorite drummers with "The John Bonham." It's a Budweiser and a shot of Jack Daniels on the bar menu – this automatically makes Jones cool. That coupled with some spaghetti and meatballs is a great way to start the night.
The ONLY fast-food chain that I will eat at after seeing the movie, Fast Food Nation. Wilmer Valderrama told me it's the only fast food chain that he will eat at, and he STARRED in Fast Food Nation--that says something.
The mornings I wake up in Los Angeles, when I'm out there for work, I start my day with Grub. Grub may have the best tasting bacon I've ever had. I'm also a pretty big coffee snob, and they have a great cup of joe. Plus, the green shrubs surrounding it make it feel really private.
One half clothing store, one half bistro. The clothes are vintage and reasonably priced. I love a nice country western button down and they have plenty. The bistro is great too, after doing some shopping.
Usually my girlfriend and I will take the dog for a run on Malibu beach, alongside giant beachfront houses that make me burn with jealous rage. At the end of the run, we hit up Duke's. Duke's is built into the side of a cliff and overlooks the ocean. I remember eating a burger with some crazy name, bacon, mushrooms, onions and BBQ sauce were on it...delicious. Oh, and their fish tacos are insanely good.
