Lake Bell's favorite L.A. vegan spots (and a couple other places)
Lake Bell, a vegan with bright green eyes and a pit bull pup named Margaret, plays Cameron Diaz's sidekick in "What Happens in Vegas," in which she pummels Rob Corddry and chicken-fights with a showgirl, forever banishing the notion that vegans are fragile little things. She's also played her share of comely lasses in "Boston Legal," "Miss Match" and, more recently, a lovestruck psychic in "Over Her Dead Body." Here are a few of her favorite spots in LA, vegan or otherwise.
The vegan Caeser is to die for. The dressing? Forget about it. I love it so much.
I come here all the time. Get the granola or whatever they have on display. The raw vegan ice cream is pretty amazing.
They know me by name here. They can be naughty, a bit fast and loose with the strict vegan standards but it’s fast food and it's excellent.
I’m big into this place. It’s very chill and it’s not as obvious as most places on the Strip. You never run into anyone you know. You feel like you’re in New York or something, it's swanky but not too much. And Dimitri, the maitre d' here, is one of the most incredible characters you will ever meet.
I have gift certificates from here that I put in a glass case and just wait for the perfect day. I like the idea of buying something that’s already been worn. My closet is probably half vintage. My Mom was a model for ten years and she’s passed on to me some really unusual items that you'll never find anywhere. Decades is like that. Instead of looking at 12 of the same thing, you see one that’s your size. You're like, "Ok, this Stella McCartney pencil skirt was meant to come to me."
