Christian Oliver's best of L.A.
Although Christian Oliver was born in Germany, he has grown to love Los Angeles. The actor, who plays "Snake Oiler" in the upcoming film "Speed Racer" (look for the thespian to break big next year, when he appears with Tom Cruise in "Valkyrie"), generally prefers to hang around West Hollywood. But he has a few surprise choices for where to have fun a bit, ahem, deeper into Hollywood. Here are Oliver's picks on where to eat and drink around town.
For me, the best burger in town! The place has a great kickback diner atmosphere. You sit at the counter and get your hands dirty.
This is where I go right after the flea market (on Sundays at Melrose and Fairfax). It's a great place to meet some people for brunch. I'm a big fan of the bread basket -- and I'm addicted to the praline spread!
I love to go downtown at night and have a traditional Japanese-style shabu-shabu meal. Unfortunately there is always a long wait, but it is definitely worth your while. You get to eat healthy and cook your own food right in front of you.
This bar is owned by a buddy of mine and I love hanging out there with a couple of friends just to have a good time. They have great drinks.
To finish the night off I really like this relaxed neighborhood dive-bar atmosphere with a little "extra special" entertainment. You are guaranteed to meet a couple of interesting characters here.
