L.A. Chicken is located on the same block as no less than three bail bondsmen. That%u2019s not the only bad sign. When you walk through the front door an automated chicken nesting atop a pyramid of colored eggs greets you with happy electronic clucking noises. Beyond, above a bored looking teen in a red apron and cap, an illuminated menu board lists the restaurant%u2019s limited menu options, a questionable hybrid of Southern fried chicken and Japanese fast food. If the former sounds appetizing, try the 2-piece fried chicken combo, with fries, cole slaw and soda. If the latter catches your eye, the chicken bowl, served with cole slaw and rice, may be just the ticket. Served on Styrofoam platters, either option is guaranteed to come swimming in a thin layer of grease. The best option may be the green salad, available as a side order for a paltry $1.69.
