Latin Guide Mar. 13-19

Southern California's rich Latin culture comes alive with these great events compiled by Maryl Celiz at HOY, the Spanish language newspaper.

Already legends in their native Peru for more than 35 years, this vibrant song and dance ensemble achieved international fame after they were featured on David Byrne's Luaka Bop compilation, "Afro-Peruvian classics: The Soul of Black Peru." Described by the Los Angeles Times as a "non-stop carnival of rhythm," Peru Negro returns to UCLA Live in a spectacle of celebratory dance and live music, performing new songs from its highly anticipated follow-up to 2004's Grammy-nominated album, "Jolgorio."
