Great hikes within 30 minutes of Valley Village, the center of the universe
1. Fryman Canyon
A nice loop or out-and-back walk that's perfect for summer sunsets. Climb up on July 4 and watch the fireworks from the nearby CBS Studio Center.
2. Mt. Lukens
A strenuous walk to the highest point in the City of Los Angeles -- more than 5,000 feet above sea level.
3. Rocky Peak
Take a walk through an alien landscape with great views of the San Fernando Valley. The rocky terrain was used as a stand-in for distant planets over the years by Hollywood.
