"Yummy breakfasts & late night comfort food in Hollywood"

Everything I've tried has been good, but nothing tastes as spectacular as it could. And their food could absolutely be spectacular. Take the hash browns, for example. They're griddled instead of being fried in oil. Maybe this is a necessary compromise to please the fat-phobic Hollywood crowd, but for a lover of crispy, golden brown hash browns such as myself, griddled, barely greased hash browns are a mild travesty.
I can't quite decide if I like the decor, which is retro-modern and painted brown, ochre and pale yellow like a 1970s kitchen (where's that avocado green refrigerator?). The 70s theme continues upstairs in a lounge that looks like the cousin of The Regal Beagle from "Three's Company." A handful of tables with brown pleather swivel chairs are clustered around a curved bar. The lighting is mercifully dim, making it the perfect place to sip a Bloody Mary while recovering from last night's show at the Avalon.
The wait staff is efficient and friendly. In their pale blue, button-down shirts with pearl snaps, their heartland American chic looks equally suitable for Marfa, Texas or Silver Lake, CA.
If the popularity of this place isn%u2019t a temporal phenomenon due to its newness -- and I doubt it will be -- expect lengthy wait times at peak hours.
