Comme Ca is shiny and pretty. Kind of like a movie set with lots of props. The cheese counter is novel and authentic. But, the authenticity means lots of stinky cheese. . .stinking up the entire and very open bar area. The decor is too cutesy with the sunflowers in white vases and collection of too new looking Ernest Hemingway hardbacks. The long wall where one would normally sit on a banquette should have Balthazar like distressed mirrors, covering the entire wall. Instead, it has a collection of individual granny mirrors you'd find at your granny's house (or in Anthropologie's catalogue). It's not even shabby chic cool. It's a shame given the potential for a legitimate French brasserie atmosphere. Feels more like an American's cliche version of an obvious and not that hard to replicate French establishment: cozy, been here forever, totally reliable and pretty cool. The decor aside, food was just ok compared to what it should and could be.
