Food lovers, vegan and omnivores alike, should not miss this great little gourmet spot. Really fresh organic and local ingredients, incredible desserts, possibly one of the best weekend brunch menus in Los Angeles...GO.

The fact that you can usually get a table at 8:00 on Saturday night is a mystery. There should be lines out the door.

It's an upscale and romantic setting for dinner but family-friendly for lunch and brunch. (There's even a handy stepstool in the restroom so little ones can wash up.)

The servers are very smart - they have to be, to keep up with the sophisticated menu - and the service is non-intrusive. The restaurant is family-owned, which is a plus.

The only ding is that the corkage fee is high compared to other Ventura Boulevard restaurants. Best dishes: red beet tartare, chicken-friend seitan, rice-breaded porcini mushrooms, caesar salad, cajun caesar sandwich, tofu benedict, waffles, "cheese" plate, chocolate souffle, bananas foster. And it's all good for you! Sort of. Well, it's better for you!
