Taylor Dayne's best of L.A.
It's been almost a decade since Taylor Dayne has released a record, but recently the hiatus ended with the album "Satisfied." "I've actually had a lot of starts and stops in the last few years because of the nature of how the music business has evolved," said the single Sherman Oaks resident. "And then I did go away and have twins too, so you can see I'm quite a juggler of projects. Now we're just figuring out when and where we might tour this year."
"I love the Tower Bar at the Sunset Tower Hotel. They revamped it, and it's just so elegant, but not to the point of being stuffy. A wonderful pianist is usually playing, and you're made to feel welcome from the moment you enter. I'd order a chopped salad and a pizza with salmon."
"After that we might go hang out at Bar Nineteen 12 at the Beverly Hills Hotel."
"The nanny looks after my 5-year-old twins [son Levi and daughter Astaria] during the day on Saturdays, and I'd go over to Franklin Canyon for a hike, not to TreePeople where everyone else is, but up into the hills. I have a wonderful little pug named Chula, and we go up among the trees and rosemary and desert sage."
"Back in town on a low-key Saturday night, I'd go for some fabulous sushi at Katsu-Ya in Brentwood."
"Or maybe Iroha on Ventura, a wonderful Japanese restaurant that's deceiving from the outside because it looks like a Swiss chalet. And then you walk in and they have this jammin' sushi bar."
"On Sunday I'll take the twins for pancakes that have two strawberries and a whipped-cream smile at Jinky's Cafe on Ventura. I get my usual, the Santa Fe scramble and mashed-peas guacamole with corn tortillas."
