"Area Classic" hardly does justice to this Eagle Rock spot, and it's not all about the steaks -- though those are tasty. First there's the drinks. These aren't some watered-down facsimile of cocktail that you so often can get at a restaurant, these heavy-handed little gems play for keeps. Then, oh then, there's the entertainment. Live jazz and standards every night of the week tucked away in the rear of the main dining room, courtesy of a host of sharply dressed regulars and retirees. It's not some over-developed sense of kitsch that brings me back either -- there's some genuine skills to be heard amid all the glittering gowns. Come for a steak -- it may not change your life, but the entertainment just may.
