Salvage
by Diane Glancy (Cherokee)
A Native American family struggles to survive an accident—a fleeting moment in time and space that unravels lives and brings about the death and destruction of two families. Salvage, a taut psychological thriller, explores what it means to be pushed out of the lives we’ve made into horrific new territory.

Teaching Disco Square Dancing to Our Elders: A Class Presentation
by Larissa FastHorse (Sicangu Nation)

When Kenny and Martin draw bizarre topics for a school project, they decide to combine them into “Teaching Disco Square Dancing.” The delicate balance of their friendship is tested when they enlist the aid of Kenny’s Grandma and Amanda, a shy outcast, whose presentation topic is on cultural history. Can they work together to finish the project and graduate from middle school or will stereotypes and teen angst undermine their determination? Hang on for a bumpy spin around the dance floor!

Recommended for family audiences.

Native Skin
by Bret Jones (Muscogee Creek)

It’s 1918, World War I is raging overseas, the Spanish influenza is sweeping through America, and a murderer is running rampant through New Hope, Oklahoma. Mixed-blood Federal Marshall Arty Gooch can’t escape the Creek Indians’ bloody past when the killer targets the surviving followers of Crazy Snake. Could the turmoil of the past hold a clue to the killings?

Recommended for mature audiences, age 14 and up.

Sunday, November 18, 2–3:30pm
