About
Fittingly ensconced in a stately former Masonic lodge on Glendale's Brand Boulevard, it's all old school all the time at A Noise Within, the classical repertory company offering high production values, nimble acting and a roomy yet intimate house. With 148 seats ringing the stage, almost any spot offers a good vantange point to view the action.
Even though the great Cinnabar is no more, there are still a number of excellent restaurants nearby for making it a classy night out. This is Glendale, so expect much authentic Middle Eastern fare, such as at the superb Carousel, whose epic menu includes kebabs, zesty fool mudammas, and an addictive muhammara (spicy dip with pomegranate juice and walnuts). But make sure to try the labneh. Just around the corner on Maryland, you'll find the elegant Mandaloun, which gives Carousel a real run for its hummus.
Tips: Also because this is Glendale, parking is relatively painless. The theater doesn't have its own parking lot, but if you show up a little early, street parking may be an option. Otherwise, patrons of the theater can score four hours for a buck at any of the nearby city garages; the closest is on Maryland, between Harvard and Broadway.
