About
Founded by Gilmor Brown in 1917 and housed in its present building since 1925, the Pasadena Playhouse is one of the oldest professionally operated theaters in Southern California. The Pasadena Playhouse produces more than 300 performances per year, including many West Coast and world premiere theatrical productions. Officially designated as the State Theatre of California and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, this nationally recognized institution remains an important artistic and economic force in Southern California.
Located between Old Pasadena and South Lake, the Pasadena Playhouse District hosts a slew of cultural happenings, including art walks, concerts and movie screenings. Of course, there are plenty of dining options too. Check out the California School of Culinary Art's The School Cafe for budget eats, Caravan Serai for drinks and Zona Rosa Caffe for coffee.
Tips: Head to the large lot behind the theater or look for street parking on Colorado Blvd. or Green Street.
