About
The Vintage Bar Group has done it again. Building on the formula of cheap drinks and dark, stylish decor that has worked so well for them at bars like the Woods and the Well in Hollywood, The Fifth is a sure-fire winner for those living in Studio City and Valley Village who don't nessesarily want to drive over the hill every night.
Boasting a brand-new poool table, a sleek bar, cozy seating options perfect for an illicit tryst and a first-rate jukebox (Devo, the Strokes, Queen, Jane's Addiction etc.), the Fifth is the kind of cool neighborhod bar valley dwellers wish was on every corner. Manager Paul O'Neil strikes a near-perfect balance at the bar--which manages to be a "hip" destination by night without the pretension bestowed upon similar-looking establishments.
Opened in early July of 2008, the Fifth quickly earned the stamp of approval from neighborhood regulars, who salute the Fifth's generous operating hours daily by showing up for a pint in the early afternoon (the bar opens daily at noon). Sometimes, the best bars don't try and do too much, and the Fifth is the perfect example of a low-key bar that is certainly more than the sum of its parts.
Happy hour is daily ($3 Budweiser bottles and $1 off well drinks) and the bar carries a few interesting spirits (Tito's and Canada's fantastic Pearl Pomegranate-flavored Vodka).
Who needs to go to Hollywood when the Fifth is in the 'hood? Soon, Hollywood hipsters seeking to escape the usual scene might be making the reverse commute to hit up this bar (located right off the 101).
Bonus round: The Fifth has old school arcade games, including Galaga and Ms. Pac Man (actually there are over 20 1980s arcade games to choose from in one unit here, so Dig Dug and Centipede fans, rejoice).
