Mr. Baguette

With two outlets – one in Rosemead and one in Monterey Park – Mr. Baguette is a local mini-chain that specializes in bánh mì, a culinary hybrid that melds Vietnamese & French influences. The Mr. Baguette menu is massive, featuring 12 basic types of bánh mì including beef, chicken, paté, pork meatloaf and even vegetarian ham. You can order a traditional banh mi (which is served on a French baguette), or you can try one of their more Americanized sandwiches, which contain many of the same meat or veggie ingredients but are served on square brioches with American style toppings such as iceberg lettuce and sliced tomato. Their savory meat pies make a perfect appetizer, and their incredibly strong coffee a perfect libation. One more thing: Mr. Baguette bakes its own bread, which can be purchased by the loaf.
