It takes a fine restaurant to overcome a terrible location and, judging by its consistent presence in “best of” lists, Wharo is one of the better Korean restaurants in town. About that location—Wharo is squeezed into the corner of a strip mall that is always choked with cars avoiding the intersection at Lincoln and Washington. Parking is a problem so it’s usually best to park on Thatcher and just walk over. Once you arrive, you’ll realize the trip has been worth it. For those unfamiliar with a traditional Korean BBQ, your server brings your richly marinated meat to you uncooked and you grill it yourself on the BBQ at your table. Bowl after bowl of condiments are also offered to complete your meal. The effect is not only delicious but fun. Also, happy hour is a good idea since a few selections from the pricey menu are offered at half-price.
