Know something we don't?
UPDATE: Tangier is now closed (as of late 2008).
Upscale North African cuisine vies for the hearts and wallets of Los Feliz hipsters, but the main draw is the cozy back room where songwriters hone their chops to a polite crowd. The likes of Ferraby Lionheart, Anna Egge, Maria Taylor and anyone following the Paul Simon-Karen Carpenter path to folksy wisdom swing through here on tour, and it's a wonderfully well-appointed crimson space to watch them in. The food is expensive (cognac peppercorn steak $26, Australian rack of lamb $29) and can be underwhelming, and the bar scene ends with the show. For cheaper eats, swing by Green Leaves or Electric Lotus beforehand. For after-show carousing, try the Dresden, Drawing Room or Rustic Inn. Tangier has a valet, but street parking can usually be found if you're patient.
