It’s the rare place that manages to conjure a beer-scented pub you could only find tucked into the backstreets of James Joyce territory and a breezy California eatery but somehow the Auld Dubliner, with its combination of sunny yellow walls, dark oak bar and open-air façade, strikes this balance. Of course Guinness is on tap, you old fool, plus other hops-and-yeast delectables from the U.K., including Smithwick’s, Bass Ale, Newcastle and Boddington’s. Traditional Irish grub isn’t missing either – think corned beef and cabbage, and something called Irish Stew, covered, naturally, in a “rich brown gravy.” Should you want to go more California, they have turkey and veggie burgers too.
