Equal parts cooking school, gourmet cheese and wine shop and cafe, Laguna Culinary Arts is a foodie's one-stop gold mine. Located off Laguna Canyon Road behind the grounds of the city's famous Sawdust Festival, this trinity of epicurean delights is first and foremost a prestigious cooking school that offers hands-on classes for both professional chefs and home cooks. Classes sell out every season and students range from couples, retirees and the occasional OC mom that has to be reminded of the "no heels in the kitchen" rule.
The cheese shop offers an astonishing selection of cured meats, cheeses and cheese-related accouterments, while the "wine cellar" (a darkened room next to the cafe shop) houses vintages from every region and in any desired price range. Don’t miss the cafe’s made-to-order mac and cheese (made from any of the 100 cheeses in supply), a dish that lures many a hill-dwelling local out for a nibble.
