About
This bright, colorful museum has become a major fixture in the Laguna Beach art world with its regularly changing exhibits.
Located on scenic Cliff Dr., within walking distance of the shore, the museum is part of the city's thriving arts district that includes numerous galleries, theater and music venues.
Past exhibitions at Laguna Art Museum include "Wayne Thiebaud: 70 Years of Painting," "Shag: The Flesh is Willing," "Millard Sheets" and "Heart and Torch: Rick Griffin’s Transcendence."
Visiting
The museum is open Monday through Sunday, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. On the first Thursday of the month, the museum is open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
General admission is $10. For seniors, students and active duty military and their dependents, admission is $8. Kids 12 and under get in free.
There is no parking at the museum, but there's ample metered parking in the surrounding neighborhood.
Dining and entertainment
The museum doesn't have a restaurant on site but there's an impressive range of restaurants, bars and coffee shops within walking distance.
Royal Hawaiian is a local standby that serves steaks and Polynesian cuisine in a simple, no-frills setting. Slightly more upscale, 242 Cafe Fusion Sushi is a small restaurant that offers Japanese cuisine at middle-of-the-range prices.
For a small-town restaurant feel, head over to The Cottage Restaurant, which serves California-style food in a quaint cottage house.
