New Year's Day Dining

Know something we don't?
Never mind the carbs: At Soot Bull Jeep, protein is king. Just count kimchee as part of your 5-a-day. You might also consider wearing your lesser wardrobe pieces to this Koreatown barbecue, as the smell of smokey meat will permeate your clothes and may have you sprinting from the pack of wild dogs following the strong scent of spicy pork back to your car. After all, you are barbecuing indoors, and it's hard to tell if those ventilation hoods are actually working. But smoke is part of the atmosphere, and you can always bring your inhaler. The meat marinades are what makes the joint memorable, with individual table barbecue pits and grimly efficient waitstaff throwing down plates of meat and vegetables and big bottles of beer. Just remember that you are grilling your own meat so watch how much beer you soak up--you really don't want to let those beef short ribs turn into a sooty mess on your grill.
