Know something we don't?
The delightfully narrow-focused arts collective Fallen Fruit deals with, well, fruits. That’s it. Just fruits, and their political, social and cultural significance. After a balmy residency in Colombia examining the banana and its reign as the world’s most popular fruit, the artists came back to L.A. to stage their first ever solo show, uncomfortably titled “Are You Happy to See Me?” Photographs and video installations paying homage to the banana and its many connotations will be accompanied by a boggling mound of 300 ripe ones. Attendees are encouraged to interact or “photograph themselves playing with this often comical or suggestive fruit.” Note: “Interacting” includes eating.
The exhibit runs Wed. - Sun., June 17-27. Opening night is June 16.
