Times Description

UPDATE: Although we have yet to receive official confirmation, S Bar will most likely no longer operate as a DJ lounge as of Feb. 9. It's not yet known what will replace the SBE-owned club. Noise complaints from loft-dwelling neighbors are thought to be at least part of the reason S Bar is going dark. The Guide will keep you posted as to what goes into 6304 Hollywood Blvd.

UPDATE #2 (Feb. 9th, 2009): Here is official confirmation and more straight from SBE.

"SBE's successful Hollywood lounge, S Bar, closed yesterday until its relocation is complete.  While the Philippe Starck-designed venue has proven to be an extremely successful part of the company's portfolio, unfortunately, noise from its operation disturbed some residents of the Broadway Hollywood building.  While SBE put significant time and funding toward mitigating the noise issues (including hiring numerous sound experts, installing a sound isolating ceiling and other soundproofing measures), unfortunately, these measures were not able to reduce the sound from S Bar to a level that was satisfactory to these residents. As a result, SBE has decided that - in keeping with its goal of maintaining a responsible and considerate role within the community - it will relocate S Bar."

The sophisticated offering fom SBE, S Bar, is winning over bar-hoppers with an interior design by Philippe Starck and innovative (and expensive) cocktail options. The capacity is limited to around 100 people, so unless you want to get rejected by a clipboard-wielding doorman behind the velvet rope, make sure you arrive early. Adjacent to the consistently busy Katsuya, but you may not enter S Bar via the restaurant.

A favorite of the "Hills" set and those looking for a smart, intimate meeting spot to start out an evening clubbing in Hollywood.
