Like tequila? Then you've come to the right spot. Located next door to his new-ish restaurant Delancey, George Abou-Daoud's Mission Cantina does not dissapoint East Hollywood dwellers looking to escape the ever-increasing crowds that haunt Hollywood just a few blocks west, beginning at Vine St.

Mission Cantina is just enough off the beaten path to pull in locals, who go for the decor (Mission Cantina is almost church-like, with stained glass windows, a front courtyard patio and a beautiful, hand-built dark oak bar with a stunning array of gold tequillas staring back at drinkers) as well as the contemporary Mexico City vibe.

Like the nearby Bowery (also owned by Abou-Daoud), Mission Cantina serves food at reasonable prices for a thirtysomething crowd.  On the menu?  How about Mexican ceviche with Red Snapper, barbacoa tacos, fish tacos or their "mole rojas" (served with jalepeno cornbread).

Dishes like the afforementioned aside, we suspect it's the "liquid gold" that will be the true draw for Mission Cantina well into 2009.   Expect an extensive tequila list, including Casa Noble Reposado, Cazadores Reposado and of course, Patron.  We also like the strawberry guava mojitos here....the perfect L.A. drink to sip on a hot summer night.
