A haven for singer-songwriters, this tiny but well-appointed room offers neo-beatnik entertainment for all ages. Dusty-trail folkies, minimalist jazzbos and chamber ensembles grace the stage nearly every night of the week, and if that means it suffers from a few slack sets, it also means its a reliably active destination any time you want to check it out. A-list cameos and unlikely collaborations (like Tom Morello's revolving-door sets as the Nightwatchman) are frequent. Note that the entrance is behind the building, so don't be the lone guy or girl knocking on the front window, as no one will hear your cries. The bar is a pretty chill place to hang out before and after, but nightlife busybodies should adjourn to Beauty Bar across the street or nearby Power House. Parking's always an expensive monster in downtown Hollywood, but if you don't mind walking, Sunset Blvd. usually has open street spaces around Gower.
