Formerly the Spider Club, Bardot aims to reinject the Avalon with a fresh dose of exclusivity. The location has a reputation for reinvention, having gone through over ten monikers since it first bowed in 1927. In the fall of 2008, the space above the Avalon nightclub once again tries for something new. Gone is the Moroccan-themed design of the Spider Club. In its place, are tufted banquettes against dimly lit golden ocher walls, and charcoal wood flooring. The new vibe of the bar is cozy, and sensual. Add to the mix faux-antique paintings of dogs, interesting and strategically placed sconces and chandeliers, and it all adds up to a bit of glamour and mystery under the Hollywood night sky (the bar is partially exposed, allowing for smoking inside the bar).

Owned by John Lyons and Steve Adelman, Bardot will be managed by the same team (Jason Scoppa and Alexi Yulish) that helped make the Green Door  hot when it first bowed.  Expect a tight door (at least initially) at Bardot, as the Green Door expats will reach out to their large guest list of friends (many of whom are actors...Kirsten Dunst and Liv Tyler have already made the scene here, and Prince and Ryan Gosling are regulars) to fill the place.  Music will run the gamut from jazz to indie rock here (Dhani Harrison's band played the opening night bash), but expect whatever is played to be sexy. 

Food will be provided by Jared Simons, and will be mostly small plates. Think seared sea scallops, mac & cheese or a  small braised beef brisket.  Although Bardot connects to Avalon through the balcony, don't expect to get into Bardot on one of the bar's hot nights via the Avalon (the nights to be here will most likely be Saturdays and Mondays, with Wednesdays also now picking up with the Silverlake set thanks to the hot "La Boum" weekly party).  The two venues will remain separate except for staff.

Hint: to find the entrance to Bardot, walk past the main entrance to the Avalon.  It's the smaller entrace to the side (near the big parking lot).  Then walk up the stairs (if you can get past the door man, that is).  Drop names if you got 'em.
