Though fittingly located just a block from the beach, the restaurant, bar and dance-club known as the Shore is in many ways an ode to the Sunset Strip, with the same cuisine, clientele and décor you might expect at a Brent Bolthouse club. Beyond the cobblestone patio, almost everything is white—white walls, white curtains, white leather booths—a feature that makes the patrons’ bottled and bona fide tans look especially fabulous. The monochromania also provides a nice contrast for the spinning chandeliers—glowing red glass orbs blown into the shape of giant retroviruses—which shower the dancefloor with little points of roving red lights rather like the laser sightings of a hundred hitmen’s rifles. It’s not all dancing and assassination inside the Shore, however. Loaded with Pan-Pacific and Mediterranean entrées and tapas, dinner is served until 12:30 a.m. seven nights a week, lunch is served from 1 p.m. on the weekends, and there’s always entertainment to match the $10 (after 10 p.m.) cover charge: On Monday, the Shore has a comedian-magician one-man show; Tuesday is open-mic night with house-band backing; on Wednesday, three different bands play; Thursday, Friday and Saturday are DJ nights; and on Sundays, the Shore welcomes a ten-piece Brazilian band.
