Besieged as it is by hoards of sparkling tan women and tall men with brilliant white teeth, the bar, restaurant and dance-club known as Blue 32 clearly houses something special. Could it be gold? Frankincense? Myrrh? Without a massive amount of patience or a hookup at the door, it’s impossible to say. But stand near the muscle-bound bouncers long enough and you may get a brief opportunity to survey the irrational exuberance inside: DJ spinning club music? Check. Go-go dancers? Check. A disco ball? Check. Those prerequisites aside, Blue 32 is a modern venue outfitted with shiny, brushed-steel fixtures atop a slate-brick bar and giant plasma-screen televisions on plain, white walls. The people inside move rhythmically to dance floor fixtures like Frankie Goes to Hollywood, and although Frankie continues to say “relax,” it’s obvious no one is listening.
