About
El Morfi in Glendale is a great place to enjoy Argentinean fare and good South American wines. Now in more stylish new digs on Brand Boulevard, this family-run eatery offers empanadas, matambre, blood sausage, and a generous plate of sweetbreads. Pastas, reflecting the Italian heritage of a large portion of Argentina's population, are generally good, and the paella is better than what most Spanish restaurants in L.A. produce. El Morfi also serves an Argentinean favorite called fugazetta.
The parrillada, a typical Argentine platter of grilled meats, is a popular item. Chicken or beef milanesas are pounded, breaded meats; crisp and huge, they are complemented by the house chimichurri (a thick herb sauce). Finish with the flans, bread pudding and crêpes, topped with sweet dulce de leche. Open for lunch and dinner daily. -- Roger J. Grody
