Know something we don't?
Following in the footsteps of filmmakers Edgar Wright, Diablo Cody and Quentin Tarantino, comedian Patton Oswalt curates a mini-festival of six double-features at the New Beverly. Running through Oct. 16, the lineup veers from the Rupert Pupkin-esque documentary "American Movie" (Oct. 8-9) to high-concept, 1980s action like "Nighthawks" (a rare opportunity to see Sylvester Stallone in drag) and "Commando" (Oct. 10-11) to action-comedy "The Foot Fist Way" (Oct. 12-14) to the closing night double-bill of F.W. Murnau's classic black-and-white silent film, "Faust," and "Night of the Demon" (Oct. 15-16), a 1957 horror film about a scientist attempting to debunk a devil-worshipping cult leader whose powers may actually be real. The eclectic pairings of Sitting in the Dark with Patton Oswalt may induce mild schizophrenia, but they always entertain.
