About
Skylight Books is everything a neighborhood bookstore should be, drawing Los Feliz locals as well as book lovers from around the city. Complete with smart staff, comfy places to sit, a great schedule of readings and events, and an exhaustive section devoted to local authors and books on L.A., Skylight is the perfect place to while away an afternoon on the Eastside.
It's also conveniently located on an eminently strollable section of Vermont that's packed with plenty of dining, sipping and shopping options. For quick diner food and great coffee cake, try House of Pies. For hipster diner food and great pancakes, try Fred 62. Pop into Y Que Trading Post for wacky t-shirts and knick-knacks. Get your tresses trimmed at Purple Circle. Sip a 75-cent cup of cheap red wine while waiting for a table at Palermo's (warning: pizza is the only thing they do well). Sip a dirty vodka martini while Marty & Elaine hammer out a tune at the Dresden. Or grab a sidewalk table at Figaro Cafe, where the crepes are divine and the cocktails make you feel almost European.
Parking Difficulty Level: Medium. Except for peak weekend hours, metered spots on Vermont or regular parking on the side streets can usually be found, but you'll probably have to make a few trips around the block. There are also a few paid lots on the side streets just East of Vermont.
