About
This Esotouric excursion will explore how East Coat sophisticate James M. Cain went from editor of "The New Yorker" to populist novelist accused of writing smut. Drawing on his essays, short stories, novels, films and the memories of his friends and colleagues, host Richard Schave will paint a portrait of 1930s and 40s Los Angeles as seen through the eyes of the writer. The tour beings in downtown, heads to Hollywood then Glendale and travels along old Route 66 with visits to Forest Lawn Memorial Park (site of the funeral of Mildred Pierce's "other" daughter, Ray) and the Glendale Train Station( where the "Double Indemnity" murder plot played out).
